AELWYD CARDIGAN WELSH CORGIS |
|
Aelwyd (pronounced Eye-Lewd) means "Fireside" in Welsh, a cozy name that describes our small, home-based breeding program with usually five or six resident dogs, all beloved companions and house dogs as well as champion show dogs. We have been involved in this breed since 1970, breeding for structure that conforms to the breed standard, and outstanding temperament. We breed for dogs that can go camping or to the office, live with senior citizens or small children, and train for obedience or the show ring or a film career. While we always hope our most promising puppies will have show ring careers, our top priority is a loving home where our Cardigan puppy will be a cherished member of your family. Our first Cardigan, Ch. Dorre Don's Incorrigible CD, came from the first Cardigan litter ever born in San Diego County. In the years since then we have owned and/or bred dogs that have earned nearly 100 championship titles, many in two or more countries, many with obedience titles as well. If you choose an Aelwyd Cardigan you will have a dog with intelligence and outstanding temperament as well as structural soundness and show ring beauty. I have served multiple terms as a board member of our national club, the Cardigan Welsh Corgi Club of America, I have been president and vice president of the Cardigan Welsh Corgi Club of Southern California, president of the Cardigan Welsh Corgi Club of Greater San Diego (dissolved). I have been editor of our national magazine The Cardigan News-Bulletin and editor of the CWCCSC magazine Cardi Tales. I am a charter member of the Canadian Cardigan Corgi Club, and I've judged the sweepstakes of their national specialty. Please take the tour through these pages, and contact me if I can give you any more information about our delightful breed. Karen Harbert |
